ReadNotify tells you when email you sent gets read / re-opened / forwarded and much more.  The ramifications for Sales Reps is obvious - if you know when your prospect opened a document, you have insight as to the timing of their interest.  If they forward it, it tells you that their interest is most likely progressing.

But the most important implication in my mind has not to do with the email itself, but rather its attachments.  If you’ve sent a sales contract to a prospect - how valuable would it be to know when they’ve read it.  Or when they forwarded and when that person read it?
